Highway 19 Produce

Our Story

Welcome to Highway 19 Produce and Berries. We are a family-owned farm established in 2010. Mark, Pam, Bobby, and Lindsey Bever are the founders of Hwy 19. Our farm is the brainchild of Bobby. While Bobby was in school studying horticulture, he came home and said “I want to grow food” so the plans change and we established Highway 19.

While Bobby worked on his degree we became weekend farmers. Trying different verities of all kinds of produce, after graduation and with his degree in hand, we went into full production and our family relocated from Richardson TX to Athens. Halie Ellis became Halie Bever when she and Bobby were married on January 29, 2017, she has become a special part of our family. Bobby is expecting their first “farmhand” Emmeryson Katye at the end of June. The farm is ever-growing and changing all the time.

The farm consists of 3 growing grounds, one on North 19, one on South 19 and one on Country Road 1119 in Athens. So the name Hwy 19 Produce and Berries just seemed to fit. Our focus is on growing GMO and chemical-free local produce and berries. Using only organic fertilizers including fish emulations, pasteurized chicken manure, and compost teas. Better known as poo tea…Ours may not always be the prettiest, but an educated shopper knows the difference between organically grown vine ripe produce and a commercially grown product.

Our largest single crop in the spring is strawberries. They are what we focus on. You will not find a prettier sweeter local berry around. Hwy 19 is one of only a few farms going strawberries in the state of Texas. The last report though Texas A&M is there are only about 150 acres of strawberries in Texas. We are one of the few.  In 2016 we installed 2 high tunnel greenhouses. I hope is to keep strawberries growing in these two houses year around.

We are blessed to have the help of some hard-working gifted extended family and local season help, these folks help out during the crunch times. Our gate is always open so if your ever over Athens way please stop by.
