Our Story
O’Jar Lab is a company of 2, husband and wife. The wife is behind the creative aspect of the business, while the husband serves as a test lab and a helper at the markets.
We hand-made and hand-labeled every single product. All ingredients are carefully selected to bring the best results in the final product.
We love what we do and we enjoy every opportunity to meet our current and future customers, to educate on the benefits of handmade soap and other bath and body products.
Our History
What started out as a simple Google Search morphed into a passion for such a short amount of time.
During Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Katrin and Michael Canlas evacuated from Houston to Dallas to wait out the storm. To keep her mind off the flooding and destruction that was affecting her family, her friends, and her city, Katrin needed to keep busy and Googled “how to make soap at home.”
She quickly fell in love with the concepts as it gave her the ability to blend science and art to create unique soaps that were not only practical for everyday use but were also attractive to the eye.
Although O’jar Lab has only existed for a short amount of time, countless hours are spent in the “lab” researching, developing, and creating perfect handmade batches of soap. The Husband & Wife Duo has frequented Artisan and Farmers Markets across the city. Katrin is in charge of design and creation while Michael is in charge of marketing and other business aspects.
