Tenacious Leaf
Our Story
Aydé Navarro-Urteaga was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico and emigrated with her family at the age of two to the United States. Always the teacher’s pet, she excelled in academics and music performance. After changing majors too many times and leaving academia altogether, she continued the search for the answer to that age-old question of “what do I want to be when I grow up?”
Finding an answer in mentors with green thumbs and inspiration from her artistic peers, Aydé discovered succulents and their tenacity to stay alive and propagate themselves. She wanted to share that thirst to live with everyone who loves art, growth, and renewal.
The vessels selected to house the succulents are upcycled, repurposed, and literally given new life. From old cookware to musical instruments and vintage toys, Aydé finds singular and considerate ways to arrange succulents, encouraging people to contribute their own containers, transforming them into miniature succulent gardens inside a piece of their family history or childhood.
Based in Katy, TX, Tenacious Leaf LLC is a minority, woman-owned, the family business started in 2016.
