Our Story
Hey Guys! My name is Sarah, I’m excited to share my dream with you. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to open a clothing boutique, I have always loved fashion and design and I am so excited to share this journey with you guys.
My idea for a mobile boutique was first inspired by the explosion of Houston’s food truck scene. They are everywhere, amazing and serving some of the best food out there. Then I asked myself, if food can still be portable and amazing, then why not clothing and accessories?
After doing some research, I discovered that it’s already happening out there In other cities around the world and I was excited to find out that we would be the first in Houston!
Urban Izzy is named after my grandfather Isadore (everyone called him Izzy).
He started a successful family-run store in the 1930’s and now it warms my heart to open my own business 4 generations later.
One of the business values that I learned and admired from my grandfather and father is old school customer service. He taught me to treat everyone like family and know who your customer is. This is how he established great customer loyalty and built true personal relationships.
Urban Izzy, the business that now bears his name will strive to carry on this timeless tradition. He also worked until he was eighty-six years old doing what he loved, this inspires me every day!
After four years of running a successful mobile boutique in my home town of Houston, I decided to go on the road for a bit. The journey led me to the beach ( My favorite zen place! ) My boyfriend and I hit the road and traveled to the neatest little beach town, called Folly Beach, in South Carolina. We lived there for two years and it was incredible!
Now my boyfriend Seann and I are keeping the journey going. We are headed back to my home town of Texas. I have always had a crush on Austin, Texas and a giddy feeling about that city, so I’m excited that our next big adventure is back in Texas. Austin, Texas here we come!
Urban Izzy offers an eclectic and well-balanced collection of items from local artists and designers. Many of these pieces are truly one-of-a-kind treasures, handcrafted with love by some of America’s richest creative talents. What better way to represent your city than to support your local artisans and craftsmen by owning one of their most innovative sartorial and/or artistic gems?
I can’t even begin to explain to you how excited I am to share Urban Izzy with the city of Houston… The State of Texas… And, with a bit of luck, the world? 🙂 Don’t be surprised if you see me pop up in another nearby city.
